Community Open Day - Saturday 16th July 2011

Update: Despite a rainy start to the day which caused a few last minute head scratches to get some stands moved inside, the day was a huge success. There were in the region of 1500-1600 visitors many travelling from far away as the opportunity to see the old Fire Engines and collection items of the Trust was a huge draw. Local visitors enjoyed the day with the many displays and exhibits to watch and see plus learning about some different interests and pastimes. All the hard work put in by the volunteers to pull off this day has certainly proved fruitful and a huge success and already people are asking when the next Open Day will be. The day has been invaluable for our local community groups in attendance and most importantly has helped to raise the profile of FIREWORLD and the work of the Trust. A huge thank you must be extended to all the volunteer helpers, the people who attended with their exhibits and displays, VOSA for the site for car parking and so many others too many to mention - thank you.

Buy a special Open Day copy of SAVED magazine - full of interesting information about the Trust, lots of history and photographs relating to the Fire and Rescue Service and of the Depot site, the site intended to be the home of the National Museum of Firefighting.
