The Weedon Collection ...

Dusty, retired appliances, sleeping in storage as if waiting in line for the alarm to sound once again and the doors to swing open. They're patiently waiting their turn to be rolled into the workshop to be restored, given a shiny coat of paint and eventually placed on display.

Some of the vehicles in the collection have already been restored and may be seen at various vehicle rallies throughout the country including Odiham, Derby and several local events.

The vehicles shown on this page are just a few of the many rare appliances awaiting their turn to be restored. A full album of vehicles held in the collection will eventually be added to this site.

WW2 has ended, and due to vehicle losses sustained during the bombing of towns and cities, local authority fire fighting fleets had been desimated and fire engines were in short supply. Military vehicle chassis were now plentiful and some of these were converted into fire appliances.

The 50's and 60's were innovative years for fire fighting appliances, seeing the departure from the use of military vehicles and older designs.

During the 70's , there were major advances in vehicle body design and technology, edging towards vehicles resembling the modern appliances we see today.
